FAQ

Why donate crypto instead of cash?

Long-held appreciated crypto (>1 year) avoids the capital-gains tax that would apply if you sold it AND lets you deduct the full fair-market value. IRS Notice 2014-21 treats crypto as property — same tax treatment as appreciated stock.

Does Wounded Warriors hold the crypto?

No. The Giving Block converts each gift to USD within 1 business day and remits the proceeds. We don't hold crypto positions.

Can I donate NFTs?

NFT donations require special handling. Email info@warriorsfund.org first — we can accept floor-priced collections via The Giving Block but illiquid 1-of-1s usually aren't feasible.

What about staking rewards?

If you have staked tokens earning yield, you can donate the yield-bearing tokens directly. Some donors set up auto-donation of staking rewards via The Giving Block's API. Contact us for details.

Is anonymous donation possible?

Yes. The Giving Block widget doesn't require KYC for crypto donations below $5,000. Above that, AML/KYC rules may apply. You can still receive a tax receipt if you provide your email.
