✓ Currently Accepting Applications · Typical response: 3-5 business days
Program overview
Wounded Warriors partners with licensed clinics nationwide to sponsor hormone replacement therapy for veterans with a documented clinical indication. Many US military veterans develop hormonal imbalances tied to service-related injuries, chronic stress, or aging; for a subset, medically-supervised HRT restores quality of life that deteriorated over years.
How supervised HRT can help veterans
Mood stabilization
Reducing depression and anxiety symptoms tied to hormonal imbalance (under licensed supervision).
Energy & fatigue
Addressing chronic fatigue via hormonal rebalancing and lifestyle counseling.
Sleep quality
Supporting treatment of sleep disorders common among post-service veterans.
Metabolic health
Supporting muscle mass, bone density, and body-composition goals alongside exercise.
Medical oversight
Quarterly blood panels, dose adjustment, and coordination with your VA primary care.
Educated consent
Partner clinics review the FDA boxed warning on testosterone therapy (cardiovascular + prostate risk) before treatment starts.
HRT is not appropriate for every veteran. A partner-clinic physician evaluates benefit vs. risk for each individual and will decline treatment when the risk profile warrants. Learn more: FDA safety guidance.

Frequently asked
Who qualifies for the HRT sponsorship program?
US military veterans with an honorable discharge, a medical evaluation documenting clinical need for HRT, and financial need (the program is means-tested). You must also live within the service area of one of our partner clinics.
What does the sponsorship cover?
Initial consultation and hormone-level testing, ongoing HRT treatment at a partner clinic, follow-up appointments, and medication costs for qualified veterans. The program does not replace your VA healthcare — we coordinate with VA when applicable.
How long does the review take?
Typical response is 3-5 business days after we receive a complete application. We will contact you with next steps and the nearest partner clinic.
What do I need to apply?
A DD-214 (or other proof of honorable discharge), a medical evaluation noting clinical need for HRT, basic financial information for the means-test, and contact details. Do not send sensitive medical records via the intake form — we request those only if we move forward.
Can I use this and VA healthcare at the same time?
Yes. HRT sponsorship is complementary to VA care — many participants continue VA primary care while receiving HRT through a partner clinic. We coordinate with your VA provider when you give us permission to do so.
Is this related to gender-affirming care?
The sponsorship covers medically-indicated hormone replacement therapy following a clinical evaluation. Partner-clinic decisions about treatment are made between the veteran and their licensed provider; we fund qualifying care regardless of the underlying indication.
Are contributions to this program tax-deductible?
Yes. Wounded Warriors is a registered 501(c)(3) (EIN 86-1336741). Donations are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by US law.
