Privacy Policy

Effective Date: January 1, 2025 · Last updated: October 19, 2026

Wounded Warriors is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our website and services.

Information We Collect

We collect minimal information necessary to provide our services:

  • ZIP codes entered when searching for veteran resources through our resource finder
  • Email addresses provided voluntarily when subscribing to our newsletter
  • Donation information processed securely by our third-party payment processors: Givebutter (card and ACH at givebutter.com/wounded-warriors, which processes payments through Stripe), The Giving Block (cryptocurrency, stock, donor-advised fund and card gifts through its widget), PayPal (PayPal Giving Fund and our hosted PayPal button), and DAF Direct (grant recommendations started from your donor-advised fund sponsor). We do not store payment details on our servers.
  • Public API and AI-assistant connector request logs, described under AI assistants and our public API below

AI assistants and our public API

Anyone, including AI assistants such as ChatGPT and Claude, can use our public API and AI-assistant connector at warriorsfund.org/mcp without an account.

  • For each request, except one that triggers a crisis response, we log the tool or endpoint name, request parameters (such as a ZIP code, city, or search words, truncated to 500 characters), the calling software's user-agent string, the number of results, and response time. We do not store the parameters of tools that take health conditions, disability ratings, or crisis details.
  • We do not receive your name, email address, account details, or chat history from the AI assistant.
  • If a request contains words that suggest a crisis, we show the Veterans Crisis Line (dial 988, press 1) and log only that a crisis response was shown and which tool or search box was used. We never store the words of a crisis search, on this website or through the connector.
  • We use these logs to measure usage, fix errors, and improve results. We do not sell them or use them for advertising.
  • For questions or deletion requests, email info@warriorsfund.org.

How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide accurate veteran resources based on your location
  • Improve our platform and expand resource coverage
  • Communicate updates about our programs and services to newsletter subscribers
  • Process and acknowledge donations

Information Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or share your personal information with third parties. Information is only shared with service providers necessary to operate our platform (Givebutter, The Giving Block, PayPal and DAF Direct for donation processing; Cloudflare for hosting, CDN and cookieless Cloudflare Web Analytics; see our Donor Privacy Policy for the full list), and only to the extent required to provide those services.

Cookies & Analytics

Our website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to measure aggregate site usage. It is cookieless: it does not set cookies or use local storage, does not fingerprint visitors, and collects aggregate page-load metrics such as page views, referrers and load times. We do not use Google Analytics or advertising trackers. Our own site does not set cookies for analytics. Our donation processors (Givebutter, The Giving Block, PayPal and DAF Direct) set their own cookies strictly for fraud prevention and transaction completion during an active donation flow. You can disable cookies through your browser settings or use the "Do Not Track" setting at any time; disabling cookies will not prevent you from using the site.

Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including:

  • HTTPS encryption on all pages
  • Secure third-party payment processing for all donations
  • Regular security reviews of our platform

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Opt out of newsletter communications at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any email
  • Request deletion of any personal data we may hold
  • Request information about what data we have collected about you

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@warriorsfund.org.

Children's Privacy

Our website and services are not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can promptly remove it.
