Emergency Financial Aid

Emergency-aid applications are paused because this cycle is fully committed. You don't have to wait on us — here are veteran emergency funds that can help right now.

Emergency aid is paused right now — but you have other options

Wounded Warriors is a veteran‑run 501(c)(3). We’ve committed our entire current emergency‑aid budget to the veterans already in our queue, so we are not taking new applications right now. We’d rather be straight with you than leave you waiting on a reply that can’t come yet.

Please don’t wait on us — the organizations below help with the same bills and several move faster than we can. We will post any change to this status on this page.

In crisis or thinking about hurting yourself? Call 988 then Press 1 (Veterans Crisis Line) or text 838255 — free, confidential, 24/7, no VA enrollment needed.

Frequently asked

How fast can you help?

Emergency-aid applications are paused — our budget for this cycle is fully committed. Please use the other emergency funds listed on this page; several help with the same bills and can move quickly. If you're in immediate physical danger call 911, or for a mental-health crisis call or text the Veterans Crisis Line at 988.

What kinds of emergencies do you cover?

Rent/mortgage to prevent eviction, utility bills facing shutoff, emergency medical costs not covered by VA/insurance, vehicle repairs required for work, food assistance in a short-term crisis, and emergency temporary-housing costs. We pay vendors directly.

What's the maximum grant?

Applications are paused, so we are not quoting grant sizes right now. When intake reopens, current limits will be posted on this page.

Who qualifies?

US veterans with an honorable discharge, a documented financial emergency (eviction notice, utility shutoff, medical bill), household income at or below 200% of the federal poverty level, and who have exhausted other assistance options (VA, 211, family).

Do you pay the bill directly?

Yes. Funds are paid to the landlord, utility company, medical provider, or vendor — not to the veteran. This protects everyone and ensures the aid solves the emergency.

Is my application confidential?

Yes. We review every submission privately. If you consent, we may share an anonymous version of your story (no name, no city) to support fundraising — you control that choice.
