Memorial gift (in memory of) to Wounded Warriors

Honor a loved one's memory by donating to Wounded Warriors in their name. We'll send a personalized acknowledgment to the family without disclosing the gift amount.

Common occasions

How a memorial gift works

  1. Start at /donate — pick any amount + frequency. Card, ACH, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or PayPal.
  2. Add the memorial info in the donation form's note field: "In memory of [full name]" + the family's address and/or email for the acknowledgment.
  3. Complete the gift. All payment methods support tribute gifts. For mailed checks: write "In memory of [name]" in the memo line.
  4. We send the acknowledgment within 5 business days. The gift amount is NOT disclosed unless you specifically request it. The donor receives a tax-deductible receipt separately.
Tip: For funeral or memorial service timing, email info@warriorsfund.org with the date and we'll expedite the acknowledgment.

Obituary language

If you're writing an obituary that directs donations to Wounded Warriors, use this language so donors route correctly:

"In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Wounded Warriors (Texas 501(c)(3), EIN 86-1336741) at warriorsfund.org/memorial-gift or mailed to: Wounded Warriors, 1790 Hughes Landing Blvd Ste 400, The Woodlands TX 77380, with "In memory of [name]" on the memo line."

The EIN line is critical — multiple US 501(c)(3)s use "Wounded Warriors" in their names. Banks route by EIN.

FAQ

Will the family see the dollar amount?

No — by default the gift amount is private. The acknowledgment letter simply says a donation was made in memory of the named person. If you want the amount disclosed, request it in the note field.

How fast is the acknowledgment letter sent?

Within 5 business days. For time-sensitive gifts, email info@warriorsfund.org with the date and we'll expedite.

Can I make a tribute gift through a Donor-Advised Fund?

Yes. In your DAF portal (Fidelity Charitable, Schwab Charitable, etc.), enter "In memory of [name]" in the grant-recommendation memo field. Most DAFs forward this to us. See /find-us for per-DAF instructions.

Can I list the gift in an obituary?

Yes — use the obituary language above. Always include EIN 86-1336741 so donors route to us, not to another similarly-named nonprofit.

Is my tribute gift tax-deductible?

Yes. You receive a tax-deductible acknowledgment showing the gift amount + Wounded Warriors EIN 86-1336741. The family acknowledgment is separate and doesn't include amount.
