Donate Your Vehicle to Wounded Warriors

Cars, trucks, boats, RVs, motorcycles — running or not. Free partner pickup once scheduled. Tax-deductible. Wounded Warriors is a Texas 501(c)(3) public charity (EIN 86-1336741).

Quick start: While we onboard our vehicle-donation partner, please email info@warriorsfund.org with your vehicle details (year/make/model, VIN, ZIP). We'll route you to the right partner platform and ensure proceeds are tagged for Wounded Warriors EIN 86-1336741.

How vehicle donation works

  1. Tell us about the vehicle. Email info@warriorsfund.org or call +1-254-322-6525.
  2. Schedule free pickup. Once our partner platform is live, it schedules a tow truck at your convenience.
  3. Sign over the title. Hand the title to the tow driver. They handle DMV paperwork.
  4. Vehicle is auctioned or recycled. Net proceeds go to Wounded Warriors EIN 86-1336741.
  5. Receive IRS Form 1098-C. For vehicles valued over $500, you'll get the form documenting the gross proceeds for your tax deduction.

Wounded Warriors is a Texas 501(c)(3) public charity (IRS ruling year 2021, EIN 86-1336741). Vehicle donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law:

  • Under $500: Deduct the lesser of the fair market value or $500. No 1098-C required.
  • Over $500: Deduct the gross proceeds from the auction sale. You receive IRS Form 1098-C within 30 days of sale (an IRS requirement).
  • Used by charity (rare): If we use the vehicle for charitable purpose (e.g., food delivery), you may deduct fair market value. We'll document this on Form 1098-C.

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of vehicles can I donate?

Cars, trucks, vans, SUVs, motorcycles, boats, RVs, jet skis, ATVs, even non-running vehicles. Some restrictions on extremely heavy commercial vehicles. The partner platform will confirm acceptance.

Is the vehicle donation tax-deductible?

Yes. For vehicles valued over $500, you receive IRS Form 1098-C documenting the gross sale proceeds (the deduction amount). For vehicles under $500, you can use a fair market value estimate. Wounded Warriors is a Texas 501(c)(3) public charity (EIN 86-1336741).

How does pickup work?

Once our vehicle-donation partner is live: free pickup nationwide, with a tow scheduled at your convenience and title transfer at pickup. Until onboarding completes, email info@warriorsfund.org with your vehicle details and we will route you directly.

How much will Wounded Warriors receive?

Partner vehicle-donation platforms typically deliver 70-80% of the gross sale price to the charity after processing and auction costs; we will publish our partner's exact terms when onboarding completes. The 1098-C form sent to you reflects the gross proceeds.

Do I need a clean title?

Generally yes, but partners can sometimes accept salvage titles or vehicles missing titles in some states. Contact the partner platform with your specific situation.
