Frequently asked

Who can request a care package?

Any US military veteran — or their family member, hospital case manager, or VA social worker — can request a care package for a veteran who is hospitalized, homebound, in transitional housing, or otherwise isolated.

What's in a package?

Personal hygiene items (soap, shampoo, toothbrush, deodorant), comfort items (socks, warm blanket, undershirts), non-perishable snacks + beverages, reading material (puzzle books, magazines), and handwritten thank-you notes from community volunteers. We tailor contents when we know of allergies or restrictions.

How long does delivery take?

Typical 3-5 business days from request approval to delivery. Hospital partners often receive packages the next day when the veteran is currently admitted and we have a current address.

Does it cost the veteran anything?

Nothing. Packages are fully funded by individual donors, sponsoring businesses, and volunteer assembly teams. $75 covers one complete package (materials + shipping).

Can my organization host a packing event?

Yes. Churches, schools, workplaces, and veteran auxiliary groups host care-package assembly events with our logistics support. Minimum volume is typically 25 packages.

How do I verify the program is real?

We publish live stats at /api/stats (backed by our 48,400+ veteran-focused VA + VSO + VA-OGC-accredited network partners, plus 96,500+ general-healthcare providers that accept vets), our FY2024 financials on ProPublica, our live coverage-gap dashboard at /transparency/gaps, and our Candid Platinum / Charity Navigator profiles — all linked in the trust ribbon above.
