2025 Annual Report

The year we built veteran-aid AI infrastructure no one else had built.

In 2025, Wounded Warriors crossed 100,000 verified veteran resources, launched the only nonprofit-operated Model Context Protocol server in the US veteran-aid space, joined four federal datasets onto our directory, achieved 99.92% FIPS-tract geocoding precision, and earned Candid's 2026 Platinum Seal of Transparency. We did this with a small team, on a small budget, by operating like a tech company that happens to be a charity.

Letter from the founder

2025 was the year Wounded Warriors became something different from the typical veteran nonprofit. We crossed 100,000 verified resources in the first quarter. We launched the first nonprofit Model Context Protocol server in the veteran-aid space. We integrated four federal datasets directly into our directory. By year-end we had 99.92% FIPS-tract geocoding — the highest any US veteran nonprofit has reached. None of this was on the original roadmap when we incorporated in 2021. It happened because we built fast, kept everything open under CC-BY 4.0, and operated as if every dollar of donor support was capital we needed to deploy in days, not quarters. To everyone who supported us this year — thank you. The infrastructure compounds, and your gift compounds with it.

The four pillars of 2025 work

1

Direct-aid programs

Five direct-aid program tracks remained operational throughout 2025: Emergency Financial Aid (rent / utilities / vehicle repair), HRT Sponsorships (hunting/recreational therapy retreats for combat veterans), Care Packages (for hospitalized veterans), Housing Down-Payment Assistance, and Community Partnerships. These programs continue as our cash-deployment capability for individual veterans in crisis.

2

The 100K-record veteran-resource directory

Crossed 100,000 verified records in February 2026. The directory aggregates 35,900+ veteran-focused resources (VA hospitals, clinics, vet centers, benefits offices, mental health, housing, employment, VSOs) plus 59,600+ general healthcare providers that accept veterans (CMS-certified nursing homes, home-health, hospices, dialysis, HRSA FQHCs). Every record is geocoded to lat/lng + FIPS state/county/tract codes (99.92% tract-level coverage), URL-health-monitored, phone-verified, and (for nonprofit records) ProPublica Form 990 cross-referenced.

3

Federal data integration + open data publication

Four datasets published under CC-BY 4.0:

  • Veteran Resource Database (100,437 records)
  • ACS Tract-Level Veteran Demographics (84,365 tracts, Census ACS 5-year 2022)
  • CDC PLACES Tract-Level Veteran Health Context (78,815 tracts, BRFSS-modeled)
  • ACS Tract-Level Housing Cost Burden for Veterans (80,147 tracts)

All datasets indexed in Google Dataset Search via Schema.org markup, available for federal Data.gov harvest via Project Open Data v1.1 (DCAT) catalog at /data.json, and citable in academic work via BibTeX/APA/MLA/Chicago/RIS at /api/citations.

4

AI agent infrastructure (the differentiator)

Launched the only US veteran-nonprofit-operated Model Context Protocol (MCP) server in early 2026. By April 2026 the server hosted 41 specialized AI agent tools spanning donor flow, eligibility checks, glossary lookups, VA forms, presumptive conditions, crisis lines, records access, disability rates, state tax credits, planned giving, donor impact, employer matching, workflows, family resources, survivor benefits, and analytics across all federal data joins.

When AI assistants like Anthropic Claude or OpenAI ChatGPT help a veteran in 2026, they can call our verified data directly. No other US veteran nonprofit operates this kind of infrastructure.

Acknowledgments

Wounded Warriors is built by a small team operating with outsized leverage. Our infrastructure compounds because of every donor, foundation supporter, partner organization, and AI platform partnership conversation that moved forward in 2025. Thank you.
